Life is a funny fucker.
One minute you’re flailing about like your stranded at sea, then you’re all alone on a castaway island then you’re in a sea of people who love and support you lifting you up and celebrating who they see you to be – which is very different to how you see you to be!
Life isn’t a rollercoaster – it’s more like you’re riding a wrecking ball except that wrecking ball is on fire and you’re also in that dream where you’ve gone to school in your birthday suit and everyone is laughing at you and you’re on fire literally and physically but then you wake up and you get a cuddle from your partner or kids or pet and everything is ok again.
Yep, life is a funny fucker and 2020 is even fuckier than that. In fact 2020 can go eat a dick.
While, for me personally, I have learnt so much about myself and life, in general, I know this isn’t the case for many others. While I enjoyed and even blossomed in my short stint in self-isolation, I know others have really, really struggled. While I may have loved the time at home to just be with my children I know others were on their own and wondering when they would ever see the faces of their loved ones again.
So, yeah, life is a funny fucker and quite often not in the haha funny kind of way. But if you are doing ok then check in on your family, friends, kids. If you are not doing ok – reach out to someone you trust, someone who has got your back, or a service who looks out for others like lifeline 13 11 14 (Australia).
Life can and will get better. You have to make that choice to believe it will. As some dude called Lewis B. Smedes said “Hope is to our spirits what oxygen is to our lungs… Hope is the energy of the soul. Hope is the power of tomorrow.”
Sending BIG virtual hugs to those feeling like they’re on that wrecking ball right now. It will get better. You will wake up. You will see hope. You will move forward. You just have to believe.
